Working in Partnership with grove C.E. Primary School to provide exellent Preschool Education for your Child.
Thank you for your interest in North Drive Preschool! We are a community based group with charitable status, owned and run by the parents of the children attending the Preschool. We have served the community since 1969.
This website is meant to provide you with a simple outline of the work of our Preschool and how it functions. If you have any other questions, our Staff and Committee Members will be happy to assist you. A list of Committee Members is on the notice board.
WHAT IS A PRESCHOOL?
An Ofsted registered Preschool such as ours is not a Playgroup. A Preschool is a recognised educational establishment designed to meet the educational needs of children aged 2 to 5 years. The Preschool has a legal responsibility for the education it provides.
The Parents' Committee manages the Preschool. It is made up of annually elected ordinary parents/guardians/relatives who voluntarily give up some of their time and energy to keep our Preschool running smoothly. Their tasks include management, updating policies, fund-raising for equipment, publicity, etc. The Preschool Staff are highly qualified within the Field of Preschool Education and are responsible for the day-to-day running of the unit. They are accountable to the Parents' Committee.
In practice, both Parents and Staff work together to ensure the smooth running of the unit, in order to provide your children with the best possible start in education.
THE PRE-SCHOOL BUILDING
We have premises that were purpose built and new in 1998. There is a spacious lobby and separate toilets equipped for Pre-School children. The main Pre-School room has designated areas for creative activities, scientific discovery, construction toys, artwork and "messy. play. There is also a home corner and a well-stocked book corner that is regularly varied by books borrowed from the local library. In addition, there is a secure kitchen area within the schoolroom.
