AIMS OF THE PRESCHOOL

Our aim is to provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment in which your child can have access to an excellent grounding in Foundation Stage Education. Learning to play socially with other children and gaining confidence in his/her own abilities and skills will equip your child with the independence he/she will need in the move towards mainstream education. Children within our Preschool will be following the Foundation Stage Curriculum. This Curriculum is divided into six areas of learning. Activities within these areas include independent structured play where children can learn through their own discoveries and observations; activities planned by staff which the children can perform on their own, with an aim to guiding the children with their discoveries; and adult-directed activities which include some direct teaching.

WE CAN OFFER YOUR CHILD

  • A specially tailored curriculum leading to the Foundation Stage learning goals
  • Individual care and attention made possible by a high ratio of adults to children.
  • Fun and friendship with children and other adults.
  • Opportunities for you and your family to be directly involved in the activities of the group and in your own child's development
SCHOOL LINKS

North Drive Preschool works in partnership with Grove C.E. Primary School. Our Staff meet regularly and share planning meetings with the School Teacher in charge of the Foundation Stage Curriculum for the School in order to ensure continuity of education for your child. Our children also have the opportunity to attend and become involved with some of the School's activities.

We have set up a Partnership Foundation Unit where School and Preschool Staff work together in order to provide the whole of the Foundation Stage within one area. This has the added benefits of a seamless transition from Preschool into School.

OUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE

  • Continuous education from age 2 right up to age 5, within the same familiar environment.
  • Seamless transition from Preschool into School. No need to decide whether your child is "ready" to move on.
  • Purpose-built premises, specifically tailored to the needs of Foundation Stage Children (ages 2-5).
  • Highly qualified, friendly, caring team of staff. Preschool staff will work alongside School Foundation Stage teachers to provide the best possible education for your child, adapted to your child's age and needs, throughout the Foundation Stage.
  • Secluded and secure outdoor area, backing on to school fields, specifically tailored to the needs of Foundation Stage Children. The outdoor area will provide climbing apparatus, nature area, vehicle track, discovery areas, shelters, seating for quiet moments, etc.
  • Equal opportunities, across the whole of our community.
THE PARTNERSHIP NOW

  • Grove C.E. Primary School and North Drive Preschool are already working in partnership to ensure high standards and continuity throughout our children's early years.
  • We share planning meetings, resources and assess the children using the same criteria and learning profile.
  • There is a Steering Group made up of both School and Preschool representatives.
  • Although the School and Preschool work in partnership, the Preschool remains in the voluntary sector and retains its charitable status.
